1976: From the 3rd generation Galant Sigma , Mitsubishi made a coupe version, the Mitsubishi Galant Lambda.

1978: The Galant Lambda became known in Europe as the Mitsubishi Sapporo, in England it was known as the Colt Sapporo. Chrysler who had a share in Mitsubishi, sold the Sapporo under the names Dodge Challenger and Plymouth Sapporo in the United States, while in Australia it became known first as the Chrysler Scorpion and later as the as the Mitsubishi Scorpion.

1981: Mitsubishi made some changes to the Galant Sigma, naming it the Galant from then on, the Sapporo also got a minor facelift, the Type II Sapporo.

1987: Mitsubishi introduced a 4 door version of the Sapporo, this looks to much like the Galant.
